How do I get to Nomads Noosa?
Can I stay in my car or campervan outside Nomads Noosa before or after the tour?
No. Unfortunately we are not allowed to let customers sleep in vehicles outside the hostel.
Check out the Nomads Noosa website to book in your bed nights or check out some of the local campgrounds online. Just make sure you have this planned out in advance as Noosa accom gets bookes out quick!
Where do we sleep on K’gari?
Island Expeditions™
We have an eco-certified campground set in an epic location right next to the beach. We provide all the gear (2 person tents, sleeping bags & pillows) you just rock up and we’ll sort out everything else. We’ve also got a dingo-fence around the campsite so they won’t come and say hello whilst we’re having a BBQ.
K’gari Safari™
The campsite is set up in 4 person tents with beds and comfortable mattresses, pillow and linen included. A general store, amenities block with hot showers , flushing toilets are all surrounded by a dingo-fence. The beach is a short walk away for a tranquil sunrise or sunset moments.
K’gari Swag Adventure™
Guests sleep in a fully enclosed, weatherproof single-person tent called a Swag, cozy, secure, and ready for you when you return from a day of adventure. No setting up, no stress. A night in a swag is more than just sleeping outdoors, it’s a true-blue Aussie camping experience.
The tents are set up in groups of two so partners and friends are close together within our eco-certified campsite and surrounded by a secure dingo-fence .
I don’t have a driving license, can I still do the tour?
Absolutely you can still do the tour! There is always room for a navigator, a comedian, a DJ and a photographer. If you don’t wanna take on these responsibilities – That’s cool too, just sit back and enjoy the ride.
What happens if it is bad weather whilst I’m on K’gari?
Unfortunately as much as we wish we could control the weather – we can’t. Queensland is subject to cyclones and torrential rain.
Check the weather forecast and bring a waterproof jacket with you and we’ll still have an epic time. It is rare that we cancel tours in bad weather as we know most of our customers have tight schedules booked along the Coast.
Can I bring alcohol with me on the tour or do I buy it on the island?
Sure. We recommend you to buy your alcohol before the tour. No Goon (boxed wine) or glass is permitted on the tour.
We recommend anything in a can is the best way to go. Less bottle tops and broken glass!
HINT ALERT >> Buy your drinks in Noosa the day before departure as it’s way cheaper than on the island.
Can I drive on K'gari?
You can drive on K’gari if:
- If you are 21 years of age with 2 years of driving experience.
- Hold a valid driving license.
-
If your driver’s license is not written in full English it must be accompanied by an international driver’s license. No photocopies will be accepted.
What time does the tour return?
What’s a Swag?
The swag has been a beloved part of Aussie life for over a century.
Your swag is a fully enclosed, weatherproof single-person tent, cozy, secure and ready for you when you return from a day of adventure. No setting up, no stress. A night in a swag is more than just sleeping outdoors — it’s a true-blue Aussie camping experience.
The tents are set up in groups of two so partners and friends are close together.
Made famous by Australia’s unofficial national anthem, “Waltzing Matilda,” the Swag is a true Aussie icon. Originally the trusty bedroll of stockmen and drovers, it carried everything they needed on long journeys across the outback. Today, it’s evolved into a modern, comfortable haven — still holding the spirit of freedom, adventure, and open skies.

I have mobility issues - can I join a tour?
We want as many people as possible to experience K’gari, and we’re always happy to have a conversation about your specific needs before you book.
It’s worth knowing that K’gari is a natural, largely undeveloped environment – the terrain includes soft sand, uneven ground, and areas without paved access, which does create some limitations we want to be upfront about.
For guests who use a wheelchair, we’re sorry to say that our current tours aren’t able to accommodate wheelchair access due to the nature of the island’s terrain. We’d encourage you to reach out to us directly though, as we’re always looking at ways to be more inclusive and may be able to suggest alternatives or point you toward operators better suited to your needs.
If you use crutches or have an injury or condition affecting your mobility, you may absolutely be able to join us – many guests in this situation have had a wonderful time. We’d just ask that you’re comfortable managing on crutches across soft sand for periods of time, and we recommend having a chat with us first so we can talk through the day’s itinerary and make sure it’s the right fit for you.
Please don’t hesitate to contact us before booking – we’d much rather have that conversation upfront so we can help you plan the best possible experience.
What if I have dietary requirements?
We source food from a variety of external suppliers. Many products carry standard allergen warnings (e.g. “may contain traces of nuts” or other allergens). As such, we cannot guarantee that any meals or food preparation areas will be completely free from allergens.
All meals on tour are prepared in shared, communal camp kitchen facilities. While we take reasonable care during food handling and preparation, cross-contamination may occur. Guests should be aware that cooking equipment, utensils, and surfaces are used collectively.
You are welcome to bring your own food, utensils, or cooking equipment if you have concerns regarding cross-contamination or specific dietary requirements. The communal cooking environment also allows you to review ingredient labels and make informed decisions about your food.
We strongly recommend that you:
- Clearly communicate your dietary requirements or allergies to your guide and fellow travellers
- Exercise personal care during food preparation and consumption
- Carry all necessary medications with you at all times (e.g. EpiPen or other prescribed treatments)
- Inform the guide where to find your medication in case of an emergency
Due to the remote location, access to medical assistance may be limited and response times can vary. Mobile reception and Wi-Fi are also restricted, with more reliable service only available in certain areas. We strongly advise that you have appropriate travel insurance in place to cover any medical needs.
If you would like to discuss your dietary requirements further or have any questions prior to your tour, please do not hesitate to contact us.
